Buck Rogers in the Twenty Sixth Century "Bombs Away" Written by Anthony I don't hold any copyrights to this story, and it was made without profit. Teaser: ext: A dark alley. There are a lot slum-looking houses, and it is obviously night. The camera pans over the slums, until it lands on one small house in particular. int: Arm's Dealer's Home Curtis, Cynthia, and a shady looking Utto arms dealer are sitting at a small table. The room is filthy, and it is obvious that no one really lives here, but the place is just used for business. Cynthia is dressed in civilian clothing, and not her military uniform. Curtis is wearing all of a lime green three-piece-suit except for the jacket, which Cynthia is holding. The Utto has a small box on the table, right in front of him. Curtis: "Are you really trying to convince me that the contents in that box are..." The Utto shushes him before he says the next word. The Utto speaks in a hushed tone as he speaks his next lines. "You don't know who could be listening!" The rest of the conversation, until noted, is in hushed voices. Curtis: "But that small box couldn't even hold my hat. How could it hold what I'm trying to buy?" Cynthia: "Sir, a lot has changed in five hundred years. They're a lot smaller now than in your time." Curtis: "But how do they work, if they're so small?" Cynthia: "You attach it to the front cannon of your ship." Utto dealer: "Now that we've established that, are you going to buy them or not?" Curtis: "Fine. How much?" Utto dealer: "Well, with the flat fee for the item, along with the cost it took to transport it here, and money for my time and how dangerous it was to obtain this..." Curtis: "Just cut to the price!" Utto dealer: "Two hundred thousand." The camera focuses on Curtis, who looks like he is about to faint. "Two... Two Hundred..." Cynthia: "We need to see the contents first." The Utto dealer looks out at Curtis for a moment, before looking back at Cynthia. "Fine..." The Utto dealers opens the box, and Cynthia leans over, looking inside. She then leans back, and looks at Curtis. Cynthia: "It's real." Curtis: "Fine, I'll pay. Cynthia, get the money. It's in my jacket pocket." Cynthia pulls her hand in the jacket, and in a beat, she pulls out the same pistol that Curtis had in the previous story. Utto dealer: "What's that?" Curtis:"It's an ancient relic from five hundred years ago that's worth about two hundred thousand dollars." Utto dealer: "How do you know how much it's worth?" Curtis takes the gun from Cynthia. In one motion, he points the gun at the Utto dealer and shoots him the in the chest. Also, the voices are no longer hushed. Curtis: "Because I no longer have to pay you two hundred thousand dollars as a result of this relic." The camera pans over the box. Cynthia grabs it, and Curtis proceeds to laugh at his own joke. They both stand, and Cynthia hands Curtis his jacket, in which he proceeds to put it back on, before taking the box and putting it in his jacket pocket. Cynthia: "I believe that the ship is in the field outside." Curtis: "I can't believe how easy that was. That Utto was obviously an amateur." Cynthia: "Sir, may I ask what you plan to do with a nuclear weapon program?" Curtis proceeds to laugh, and the camera cuts to his face. "Let's just say that the Defense Directorate is gonna blow up like fireworks during the Fourth of July!" The camera cuts across to Cynthia's face, who clearly doesn't understand the reference. At that point, Curtis and Cynthia begin to exit the shabby room, as the screen fades black. End of Teaser Opening credits commence ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beginning of Act One ext: Space int: Huer's Office Huer, Buck, and Fox are in Dr. Huer's office. Dr. Huer is sitting behind his desk, while Buck and Fox are standing. Huer has a concerned look on his face, and the camera is focused on him. Huer: "Buck, I have a special job for you. Do you remember Charles Curtis?" Buck: "The man who destroyed the moon base and then tried to blow Wilma up? Yeah, I remember him. Fox: "What did Curtis do now?" Huer: "I just received word that a highly dangerous nuclear arms dealer was killed in a slum-like area on Satel yesterday evening. A witness said that he heard a gunshot, and went out to investigate. He described a man who resembles Curtis, walking towards a ship carrying what looked to be a box." Fox: "That doesn't mean he was carrying anything dangerous." Buck: "He killed a nuclear arms dealer, and walked out with the contents of what was probably supposed to be a transaction. I'm sure he took something dangerous." Huer: "Buck, I want you to go down and investigate this. The police who reported this to me said they would fully cooperate with us to stop this man." Fox: "Should Buck be going alone?" Huer: "Yes. The public doesn't need to know that nuclear weapons are in the hands of a madman. Buck, only the police should know about why you are there. Understand?" Buck: "Yes Dr. Huer." ======================================================== Cut to: int: S.S.ANDROPOV Curtis, wearing a tan suit with a black bolo tie, is in a large room that looks like the control room to the whole ship. Curtis and Cynthia, who is now dressed in Draconian military dress, is watching a soldier insert the nuclear bomb program to a machine. Another Draconian soldier is looked at a large monitor, though the contents of the monitor are not being shown at the moment. Cynthia: "May I ask you a question, Commander Curtis?" Curtis: "Of course, Cynthia." Cynthia: "What are those objects you wear around your neck?" Curtis tugs at his bolo tie. "You mean this?" Cynthia: "Yes, sir." Curtis: "It's called a tie. There's many different types of them. What you see here is a bolo tie. The one that hangs down is a necktie, and the last one that stretches out horizontally is a bow tie." Cynthia: "Were they worn by military commanders in your planet?" Curtis: "No. I wear them to show my authority on the ship. I don't need to, since no one in Draconia wears ties, but old habits die hard." Cynthia: "Oh. I rather like them." Curtis laughs, before walking over to the monitor. "Is Buck still in the Defense Directorate?" Watcher: "Yes sir! I haven't seen any ship that would resemble Buck Rogers leaving the Directorate." Curtis: "He should be leaving soon. Keep a close eye, soldier." Curtis then turns his head, talking to the soldier who is working on the nuclear program. cont: "How much longer until that program is inserted?" The camera focuses on the technician, who is busy working with wires. He is holding two green colored wires, and has the nuclear weapon program placed inside a hole where he has the wires. Technician: "About an hour, sir." Curtis: "That's all? I thought you'd need to disconnect the entire missile system!" The Technician laughs. "Sir, we haven't had to disconnect the entire ship to add new programs for about three hundred years." Curtis frowns. "Damn, I'm old." Cynthia: "Maybe in age, but not in spirit." Curtis furrows his brow, and looks at Cynthia. "People can't even tell me what I'm wearing around my neck anymore!" ========================================================= Cut to: int: The Defense Directorate Buck is in his room, packing one suitcase for his trip. Wilma is in the room, along with Twiki, who is helping Buck pack. Wilma: "Buck, you can't go alone. That man still wants revenge! How do you know this isn't a trap?" Buck is not looking at Wilma, but is putting clothes in the suitcase. "It probably is a trap. But Wilma, it would be even more dangerous if you went with me." Wilma: "How do you suppose?" Buck: "He has orders to take me to Draconia alive. He wants you dead because he thinks that'll make us even, remember?" Wilma: "Even if not me, then, you should be escorted by someone." Buck: "If I come with others, and make my presence with the Directorate known, others will begin to ask questions. What do I tell them? An insane Draconian war monger just got his hands on a nuclear weapon program capable of destroying a large city? Wilma: But..." Buck: "Besides, I'll have the protection of the police. They know why I'm there, and they'll do their job to defend me." Wilma: "I just don't want you to get hurt, Buck" Buck stops packing, and turns around to face Wilma. "Wilma, I promise you I won't get hurt. We don't even know what he plans on using the weapon for. For all we know, Draconia could be in the midst of negotiations with another country, and wants the bomb to coerce them." Wilma: "I hope your right, Buck." Buck: "Just promise me you won't follow me." Wilma looks away. cont: "Promise me, Wilma, for your own safety, that you won't follow me." Wilma hesitates for a moment, before looking back at Buck. "I promise." Buck, after looking at Wilma for another beat, turns back around to the suitcase, which is a bit overcrowded. "Good. Now all I have to worry about is closing this suitcase." End of Act One ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beginning of Act Two int: Exit Dock Wilma is watching the ships fly by. A ship that is assumed to be Buck's is flying away, and the camera catches it getting smaller and smaller in the distance. There are people in the background, but Wilma is talking to herself here. Wilma: "I hope this isn't a trap. Please Buck, be careful." The camera is still focused on Wilma, and the viewer cannot see Fox when he speaks. Fox: "Buck's smart enough not to fall for Curtis's traps." Wilma turns around, startled by Fox. Wilma: "Fox, I didn't see you there. (beat) I know, but..." Fox: "If you're that worried about him, why don't you go after him?" Wilma: "I can't. He made me promise I wouldn't..." Fox: "He thinks the Dracoinans will come after you this time?" Wilma: "That last time... They wanted me dead the whole time, not Buck. In here, I'm safe. Even Curtis wouldn't launch a direct attack against the Defense Directorate. But I'm also resigned to just worrying about him. Out there, I can make sure they don't capture him and tie him up again." Fox: "Why don't we sneak out after him, then?" Wilma: "You're worried about him too?" Fox: "Of course I am. The man saved my life numerous times. I owe him." Wilma: "I suppose. He'll be mad we left, though." Fox: "Not if we save him from being killed, he won't. Besides, we'll sneak out now, come back when we know he's safely in Satel, and no one has to know we're gone." Wilma's face is showing hesitation. After a beat... Wilma: "Alright, let's go. But try and make sure he can't see us, Fox." ========================================================== ext: S.S.ANDROPOV int: The Missile Room Curtis, Cynthia, the technician, and the Watcher are in the same positions that they were in before. Watcher: "Commander Curtis, Buck Rogers left the Directorate!" Curtis: "Cynthia, you know what that means..." Cynthia: "Yes sir! We must obliterate the Defense Directorate." Curtis is now looking at the technician. "What's your name again?" The technician faces Curtis and salutes stiffly. "Technician Howard Nead, sir!" Curtis: "You don't have to be so formal on this ship, soldier. At ease." Howard hesitantly begin to relax, but only slightly. Curtis: "Is everything in place, Howie?" Howard: "Almost sir. Just about five more minutes!" Curtis: "And how long, after you inserted this chip, does the weapon take to fire?" Howard: "About one hour from loading." Curtis: "An hour between pressing a button and watching it shoot?" Howard: "Sir, this particular chip requires a loading period. Basically, the chip gathers a large amount of energy, packs it in a very concentrated form, and then has to solidify it so it'll shoot in a straight line." Cynthia: "That arms dealer wanted twenty thousand dollars for that quality?" Curtis: "As long as it does it's job..." ========================================================= ext: Space Wilma and Fox are in their fighter jets. In the background, Earth can be seen, although it is getting smaller as the two continue to fly. The ships are not going very fast, mostly because Wilma and Fox don't want to go to fast and catch up to Buck. Note that the camera is focuses on each person as they speak, and then moves to the other when they finish. Fox: "Are you sure we should be following Buck. No one will know if we turn back now." Wilma: "I'm not turning back after all this. I know the Draconians are up to something, and I'm going to be there to save Buck from whatever they're up to." The moves outward, and focuses on the two ships. Earth is now gone from the background, but a tiny dot that wouldn't even be noticable unless it was pointed out can be seen. As the two ships move, Wilma's ship stops. The camera cuts back to Wilma. Wilma: "Did you see that?" Fox (on the intercom): "See what?" Wilma: "Stop, and look to your right out the window." The camera zooms out of the ship, and nothing can be seen for a moment. Then, a bright yellow dot appears for just an instance, and then vanishes. The camera then cuts back to Wilma. Fox (still on the intercom): "If you mean that yellow light, then yes. I saw it." Wilma: "I wonder what that is." Fox: "I have no idea. Maybe the Directorate is testing out a new weapon?" Wilma: "I didn't hear about any new weapons being tested. We should probably take a closer look. Follow me." Fox: "What about Buck?" Wilma: "This should only take a minute. Besides, we need to go slow enough that he won't find us anyways, right?" The camera zooms back out again, and the two ships change course, towards that bright yellow light. The screen goes black for a moment, and then shoots from behind the two ships as they fly towards the yellow dot in space, which blinks again, only now it is much closer. ======================================================== int: ANDROPOV's Missile Room The camera is focused on Curtis, who is now looking out the window. Curtis: "May I ask what that blinking is around the main cannon?" The camera falls back, to see Nead. He is no longer working on the wires, but is standing near Cynthia, who is behind Curtis. Nead: "Sir, that's just the weapon charging up. The blinking represents the energy from a chemical reaction occurring. It's completely normal, and will do no harm to your ship." Curtis: "How much longer until the weapon is fully charged?" Nead: "About twenty more minutes." ========================================================== The camera now focuses back to Wilma and Fox. The S.S.ANDROPOV can be seen ahead, although it is very small still, and the only noticable thing about it is the yellow flashing. Fox: "That doesn't look like a directorate ship." Wilma: "Probably because it isn't. I can't see the Directorate Symbol anywhere on the ship." Fox: "You think it's a spy plane?" Wilma: "I don't think so. Powerful telescopes in spy planes have a more farther range than this. This would be too obvious." Fox: "Maybe that's what the spy plane is hoping for..." The camera zooms back, and the two ships can be seen flying closer to the S.S.ANDROPOV. At this point, it is now close enough that the ship can be seen clearly. Wilma: "I've seen this ship before, somewhere..." Fox: "Uh, Wilma, you probably would remember it from the moon base, when Buck was kidnapped by the Draconians." The camera focuses on Wilma in the fighter jet. Her face is in shock. Wilma: "Fox, stop the ship. We're far enough away we won't be spotted, but there are dangerous weapons on that ship. I don't want a torpedo aimed at me again." At this, the camera zooms, out again, and the two ships are now stopped completely. The ANDROPOV is still a ways away, and would not be spotting Fox or Wilma. Fox: "Curtis... What's he doing so close to Earth, and what is that flashing supposed to be?" Wilma: "I don't know, but I don't think it's good. After all, the flashing light is located where the main weapons are, and it's pointing towards Earth." Fox: "What are we going to do?" Wilma: "I heard there is a way to disable those weapons, but it's risky." Fox: "That doesn't matter at the moment. He's probably aiming that at the Defense Directorate." Wilma: "If I can shoot a laser directly at that beam, it'll backfire, and destroy the ship instead. The risk, of course, is..." Fox: "You might get shot at in the process..." Wilma: "What are we going to do?" Fox: "Why don't we do what we did last time?" As Fox says this statement, the screen begins to go black, before the commercial break. End of Act Two ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beginning of Act Three ext: S.S.ANDROPOV int: Helm Curtis, and three people who are pilots are in the Helm. The camera pans over the room, and a lot of complicated computers can be seen. One screen that the camera stops at for a beat looks like a sonar. There is a symbol of a ship in the center, and a circular line emits from the center, much like a submarine sonar, but without the noise. The camera finally rests on Curtis, and he is standing by a window, looking out in space. Note that when Cynthia talks, her voice sounds the same, but it is coming through a radio device, as she is not in the room. Cynthia: "Commander, there remains just ten more minutes." Curtis (without moving his gaze): "Excellent. I'm going to enjoy seeing him when he returns to Earth and not only finds his precious home and friends destroyed, that he's been ambushed as well." Cynthia: "Cynthia out!" The camera now looks out the window as though from Curtis's viewpoint. After a beat, he sees what looks like a fighter jet go by. Curtis: "What was that?" The camera focuses now on the pilots and the control panel. Pilot 1: "Sir, the radars indicate a strange ship just flew past us." Curtis: "A strange ship? Where is it?" Pilot 1: "It is now underneath the ship, according to our radar." Curtis: "Just our luck. Probably Rogers, finding out about this. Alert the ship we're going into defense mode 2!" Pilot 1 presses a button, and his voice is now echoing, although the camera is still focused in the room. Pilot 1: "Attention! Attention! This ship is now in defense mode 2. All soldiers man the ship's weapons, and attack anything that moves!" ======================================================== Fox's ship can now be seen flying underneath the ANDROPOV. As he is flying, a long rod suddenly appears to his side. The rod actually is coming from the ship. Suddenly, a few holes near the bottom open up, and small missiles suddenly shoot at it, aimed at Fox. Fox: "Just my luck..." The camera now sees Fox quickly fly away from the missiles, which are following him. He then flies towards a wing. Accelerating, he flies past the wing, and then circles around, so he is now above the wing. The missiles that are following him crash into the wing, although after the explosion, it is seen that almost no damage was done to the wing. Fox: "How much armor is on this?" Just as he says this, the camera pans over a hole in to the side of Fox. What looks to be like a large cannon ball that would shoot from pirate ships suddenly flies out of the ship, narrowly missing Fox. Fox's ship then flies below the hole, and tries to fly along side the wall, slowly. ======================================================== int: Helm Pilot 1: "Sir, we just took a hit to the wing." Curtis: "How much damage?" Pilot 1: "Very minimal. The radar detected it as a vibration, more than an attack." Curtis: "I wish we could move the ship..." At this point, Cynthia's voice can be heard over the radio again. Cynthia: "Commander Curtis, five more minutes until the nuclear weapon is ready!" Curtis: "Ask Nead if there is anyway we could move to attack this mysterious assailant?" A beat goes by, before a response. Cynthia: "Nead says no, we can't. He also says not to deploy any fighter jets. They could get caught up in the beam, or a stray laser may hit the main cannon." Curtis: "What a minute... What would an attack to the main cannon do?" Cynthia: "Nead says that if the attacker was to fire a laser directly into the cannon as it was loading, the beam would backfire, and destroy the ship." The camera now focuses on Curtis's face. He looks as though he is really worried, but deep in thought at the same time. After a beat, he continues. Curtis: "Cynthia, listen to me. I want you and Nead to exit that room, now!" Cynthia: "But sir, what about the nuclear beam! Someone needs to be in here to fire it!" Curtis: "Listen to me, if this attacker fires at the beam, then that room will be the first to feel the affect. I'm going to seal off the room with a nuclear radiation shield, but I need you and Nead to leave!" Cynthia: "But sir..." Curtis: "Now! Two of my soldier's lives means more to me than a one hundred thousand dollar beam!" ======================================================= int: Weapons Room The camera is dong a close up of Cynthia. It is clear she was taken aback by that comment, and appear to have a cross between admiration and pride on her face. Also note that Curtis is now on the radio. Cynthia: "Thank you, sir. That means a lot to me!" Curtis: "It'll mean even more to me if I can say it your faces!" Cynthia: "Alright, we're leaving. Cynthia out! Nead, come on!" ======================================================== ext: Outside of the ANDROPOV's main cannon Wilma's ship is flying near the main cannon, where the yellow light is flickering. As she is flying towards it, cannons can be seen hurling behind her, but missing her. Wilma's ship continues to fly towards the cannon, but she is angled so she couldn't make a direct shot at it. Wilma: "Just a bit more..." The ship now flies right in front of the flickering light. In one instant, she shoots a missiles straight in the center of the flickering light, and then turns to leave. As she flies, a small explosion can be seen behind her, but not of a great extent, and certainly not large enough that Wilma would have a fear of being sucked in. Wilma: "Yes!" Fox can be heard on the radio. "You did it, Wilma!" Wilma: "We saved Earth!" ======================================================== int: Helm The whole room can be seen vibrating. Curtis, Cynthia, and Nead are on their knees, holding on to what they can to not fall. The pilots are still in their chairs, but are clutching to the control boards, rather than using them. Note that the vibrating is pretty loud, and the characters have to shout over it. Curtis: "Damn you, Rogers!" Cynthia: "I don't think Rogers did this, sir. He'd be in another planet!" The camera is on Curtis's face, and he looks furious. Curtis: "Someone else! After saying this, the vibrating stops. Slowly, the characters begin to regain their balance. Curtis: "What's the damage?" Pilot 1: "Well, the radar says that the only room that was destroyed was the Weapons Room. Other than that, the ship is fine, with no vital damage!" Curtis: "Good. Now we can move!" Pilot 1: "Excuse me, sir?" Curtis: "Use your radar and find the attacking ships. I can't destroy the Defense Directorate, but I can destroy whoever did this." ========================================================= ext: Space The two ships are now flying away from the ANDROPOV. As they do, however, they can hear a voice that sounds just like Curtis's. The camera now shifts to the inside of Wilma's fighter jet. Curtis: "Who's there?" Wilma: "Charles Curtis of Dracoina?" Curtis: "Deering? Wilma Deering, you foiled my plans?" Wilma: "I couldn't let you destroy the Defense Directorate." Curtis: "How did you know that was my target?" Wilma: "You must have lured Buck away, so you could destroy his home, and us with it." Curtis: "Correct. I stole that nuclear weapon program, and I did kill that Utto arms dealer so Buck would be lured down to investigate it. And I fully intended to kill all of you in the name of Draconia!" Wilma: "How could you be so sick?" Curtis: "Blame your lover for my actions! And you can blame him for your deaths!" Wilma: "What?" As Wilma says these last words, the camera turns to focus on the S.S.ANDROPOV's front side. The camera shows it now in front of Wilma and Fox's fighter jets. ======================================================== int: Helm The camera is now focused on Curtis once again. He is now standing on Curtis is now standing near the window, with Cynthia next to the pilots. Curtis: "Cut the transmission." A loud noise that sounds like a transmission being cut can be heard. Cynthia: "What now, sir?" Curtis: "Fire at the two ships! Don't stop until they're both destroyed! Enter Attack Mode!" End of Act Three ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Beginning of Act Four ext: Space The camera is once again focused on the space. The S.S.ANDROPOV can be seen moving towards the fighter jets. In response, the fighter jets fly away, and one nearly collides into a cannon. The camera now shifts to Fox's fighter jet, and it can be seen from the windows outside that he is moving very fast. Fox: "Now what are we going to do?" Wilma: "I don't know! The armor of the ship is too strong for our weapons to penetrate..." Fox: "I guess the only thing we can do at the moment is hope that the Defense Directorate spotted the flashing lights, and is sending someone to investigate!" Wilma: "We can't outrun this ship, and I don't know how much longer I can dodge these attacks." As she says this, the camera switches to being in space again. Two torpedoes are fired at Wilma. In response, she flies quickly away, and in an even quicker motion, she circles around and shoots at the torpedoes, destroying them upon contact. ========================================================= int: Helm The camera is on the pilots, and Curtis is near them, jumping around with excitement as he looks out the window. Cynthia: "Sir, we're running low on the weapons. We forgot to refuel before we left." Curtis: "What! I guess there's only one thing left to do, then." Pilot 1: "What is that, sir?" Curtis: "Ram 'em!" ======================================================= ext: Space At this point, the two fighter jets are still flying around, dodging artillery fire. However, the weapons stop, and so do the fighter jets. Wilma: "What happened? Are they retreating?" Fox: "I don't think so. Maybe you're going to get another radio transmission." Wilma: "I hope it's an apology." Fox: "Wait a minute... Wilma, retreat!" The camera zooms out, and the S.S.ANDROPOV can be seen flying towards the two fighter jets. In response, they both turn around and begin to fly away. The camera now takes a sideways angle, and it is clear that if the chase continues much longer, the ANDROPOV will reach the fighter jets shortly. ====================================================== int: Helm Curtis: "A little closer now..." As the camera focuses on Curtis, a vibrating suddenly happens. It is not very powerful, but powerful enough that Curtis and the rest are once again having to hang on to something. Curtis (shouting): "What happening?" As this is said, The camera shifts to the door, where Nead walks in, holding on to the railing on the side. Nead (also shouting): "Sir, there's too much energy in the Weapon's room from the radiation. Your overheating the engine from this accelerating, and there seems to be an outlet in the Weapon's Room!" Curtis: "What does that mean?" Nead: "It means that if the engine gets overheated enough, it may release a spark. And the components in that nuclear weapon are highly combustible. Meaning..." Curtis: "The ANDROPOV will go up in flames. Dammit! Stop the ship!" ========================================================= ext: Space The camera is focused on the ANDROPOV. In the present state, it is shaking violently, and is still speeding towards the fighter jets. However, after a beat, it is slowing down considerably, and is no longer vibrating. The camera now shifts to the inside of Wilma's fighter jet. Wilma: "What's happening now?" The radio transmission comes on. Curtis: "You win this time, Deering!" Wilma: "Win! All I did was prevent you from killing innocent people. How did I win?" Curtis: "You and Rogers one-upped me once again. Mark my words, Deering. I will be back. Next time, your dead!" Wilma: "Wait a min..." As she says this, the transmission cuts, and she doesn't finish her sentence. The camera zooms back out, and the Curtis's ship can be seen turning around. Fox: "Should we attack it from behind?" Wilma: "What good is that going to do?" Fox: "I wonder why he retreated?" Wilma: "I think we should just get out of here. His ship was vibrating pretty badly, so I think it was damaged. We should take this opportunity to alert Dr. Huer." ======================================================== ext: Defense Directorate int: Dr. Huer's Office Dr. Huer is sitting behind his desk, while Wilma, Buck, and Fox are standing in front of him. Huer has a grim look on his face, and that is shared by the three in his office. Huer: "I can't believe what almost happened..." Buck: "I can't believe I fell for his trap again. I should have waited. I even knew Curtis was behind this..." Huer: "Don't fret, Captain Rogers. After all, I was the one who sent you, knowing what Curtis did last time." Buck: "Wilma, Fox, thank you for wanting to protect me." Wilma is now blushing, but only for a moment. Wilma: "Don't mention it. I know you would have done the same for me and Fox if you could." Fox: "I just can't believe we were able to avoid all those cannons." Huer: "Wilma, I have one more question for you that I didn't ask when you first returned." Wilma: "What is it, Dr. Huer?" Huer: "Do you think the weapon Curtis was going to fire was the same one that he stole in Satel?" Wilma: "Yes, Dr. Huer, it was. He specifically told Fox and I via a radio transmission about killing the Utto arms dealer." Huer: "He fired a Grade A nuclear weapon at us. I have no choice, then..." Buck: "No choice in what?" Huer: "I've consulted the Computer Council on this, and we have agreed that it is vital for the Defense Directorate to declare war on Draconia." Buck: "War! But sir, we're already in a war!" Huer: "I know, Buck. But we can't risk this anymore. What the Draconians almost did was unforgivable. Charles Curtis may harbor a personal grudge against you, but I'm sure that he paid for that weapon with Draconian funding. That makes them responsible." Buck: "So that's it, then? Can we even afford two wars?" Wilma: "We're going to have to, Buck. If we don't Curtis is just going to try his schemes." Buck: "He'll try them anyways. You think being at war is going to stop him?" Wilma: "But this time, we'll be ready for him." Huer: "Buck, I've decided it. I'm going to make the announcement this evening. But Buck, I have one special job for you and Wilma." Buck: "Yes, Dr.?" Huer: "The next time you get a chance, I want you to assassinate War Minister Charles Curtis." Buck: "Are you serious?" Huer: "Sadly, there is no other option. If he harbors this hatred for you, then he is probably the one leading these attacks. If he dies, then full-scale war could be averted." Wilma: "Yes sir." Huer: "Thank you once again for saving Earth, Wilma and Fox. As Huer says the next line, he stands up, clutching his desk and looking very serious. cont.: "I only hope that with these troubling times, Earth is worth saving..." End of Act Four Closing Credits
